Opposition leaders’ forum that was supposed to be convened yesterday (Saturday) organized by Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) was cancelled at last minute due to unavailability of other opposition parties, although they had shown intention to be part of forum at the beginning.
In an interview on Friday afternoon, BMD president Nehemiah Modubule confirmed that the forum will proceed due to apologies lodged by Botswana People’s Party and Botswana Labour Party (BLP). “Presidents Dibeela and Molapise have requested that we postpone the congress as they are still consulting their parties. I spoke to BCP president Dumelang Saleshando and agreed we defer,” he said.
UDC snub
Meanwhile, Modubule while briefing the media on Thursday said President of Botswana National Front and Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) Duma Boko had snubbed their invitation to forum.
