- Central committee postpone primary elections, regions unhappy
BAKANG TIRO
Some Botswana National Front (BNF) regions are fuming following the central committee decision to postpone the party primary elections that were scheduled for 6th-7th April 2024, The Patriot on Sunday has learnt.
The regions are threatening to slap the BNF National Executive Committee (NEC) with a petition to express their disappointment. The BNF NEC is said to have postponed the primary elections to the 27th of April 2024. The regions are concerned that the delayed primary elections will negatively impact preparations of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) as the BNF has to feed it with parliamentary and council candidates.
It is said the regions that are leading the protest against the central committee are BNF South Central region which comprise of Gaborone five (5) constituencies and the Henderson Tlhoiwe region which its constituencies include Ramotswa, Tlokweng, Kgatleng East, Kgatleng West and the new Kgatleng Central.
