Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD), who are on a rebirth mode, have refuted claims that they are under pressure to seek membership of either the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) or Botswana Congress Party/ Alliance for Progressives (BCP/AP) coalitions.

BMD president, Nehemiah Modubule on Thursday said they will join any coalition only if opposition parties are united. The veteran politician said there is a need for all opposition parties to unite ahead of 2024 elections.

According to Modubule, the UDC and BCP/AP coalition will yield power to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) if they approach the all-important 2024 elections fragmented. He revealed that the BMD congress took a resolution to bring opposition leaders together.
