Purpose of the Role
The Head of Treasury and Finance is a senior, Group-level leadership role responsible for the financial strategy, capital structure, and treasury architecture underpinning the Group’s growth ambitions, including regional expansion, acquisitive growth, and sector diversification. The role is deliberately forward-looking, and the incumbent is expected to build the financial and governance infrastructure rather than simply maintaining the current business as it stands. The role will be based in Gaborone, Botswana.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead Group-wide treasury management, including liquidity, capital adequacy, and funding structures across the Group’s current and future subsidiaries.
* Define and execute the Group’s capital-raising strategy, including debt, equity, and structured financing to support growth, diversification, and regional expansion.
* Lead financial due diligence, deal structuring, and post-transaction integration for mergers, acquisitions, and new sector or market entries.
* Ensure FRS-compliant financial reporting, timely statutory filing across all Group entities and Board-level financial reporting.
Design, implement, and strengthen governance, risk, and internal control frameworks.
* Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, investors, and other financial and capital-markets stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
* A professional accounting or finance qualification (e.g. BICA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* A postgraduate business qualification (e.g., MBA) is an added advantage.
* At least 12 years’ post-qualification experience in senior finance leadership, including at least 5 years at executive treasury/finance leadership level.
* Substantial experience within the financial services sector, with direct exposure to one or more regulated financial institutions (e.g., insurance, banking, microfinance, or asset management).
* Demonstrated experience managing treasury, capital adequacy, and liquidity within a regulated environment.
* Proven experience raising capital to support business growth, expansion, or acquisitions.
* Demonstrated experience in mergers, acquisitions, or corporate transactions, including financial due diligence, deal structuring, and integration.
* Experience operating across multiple countries with the ability to navigate diverse regulatory and market environments.

Key Competencies
Deep technical command of FRS financial reporting and Group consolidation across diverse sectors.
* Capital raising, deal structuring, and M&A execution capability.
* High-level treasury, capital management, and financial risk expertise across multiple markets and currencies.
* Excellent Board-level, investor, and executive communication skills.
