Happy People Unhappy!

Two successive defeats to less fancied sides -premier league rookies Masitaoka FC and Orapa United, have sealed the fate of the much touted Township Rollers gaffer, Hassan Oktay.

A day after being humiliated 0-2 by Orapa United, coach Hassan Oktay was on Wednesday booted out by Township Rollers management. Earlier on Saturday night, Oktay’s charges were eliminated from the Orange FA Cup by newcomers-Masitaoka FC of Molepolole in a match many pugilists had predicted to be a walkover for Mapalastina. It was not to be. Majatlhaga pipped Popa 2-1 in the semi final duel played at the national stadium on a wet Saturday night to advance to the finals of the Orange FA Cup, much to the chagrin of the hordes of supporters that follow the latter everywhere.

“(We) agreed to part ways amicably with immediate effect. We wish to thank Mr. Oktay for his time with us and wish him all the best for his future endeavours,” reads a statement from Popa.

Oarabile ‘Wilshere’ Seabo has been appointed as interim Head Coach, on a caretaker basis and subject to approval by BFA, until a more permanent solution has been found by the Club, Popa announced. If follows therefore, that it is envisaged that Seabo will be in charge of the team’s matches for the foreseeable future.

Before the start of the season, Rollers management sold supporters a dream about starting a ‘movement’ and building a team that will be competitive and will challenge for honours. But the two losses have thrown such ambitious plans into disarray.

“We wish to assure you that we have every intention of keeping that promise.  Happy days will return that is inescapable! We wish to appeal to you to continue supporting the Team in large numbers in the future, and pray for patience as we endeavour to put this project back on track”.

Now, Masitaoka FC stood on the precipice of history when they clashed with Gaborone United in the Orange FA Cup on Saturday.
